Dash Arena
Yes, I’m reading on the toilet. So?
What is Dash Arena?
Dash Arena is a two-player game of a fast paced and chaotic sport in the far future. Players take the role of teams with unique abilities and try to score 5 points before their opponent. You gain points by scoring goals (3 points) or by downing the opposing disk carrier (1 point). Dash Arena is distributed in a series of stand alone games that can be freely combined. Every game box includes new teams, arena boards and boosters.
Setting up (in less than 3 minutes!)
Each player selects their team. Choose an Arena. Figure out which player will start as the attacker (attacker has the first turn). Defender places their figures on Starting positions in order of their choice. Attacker does the same with their figures. Place the disk at the Main Disk Spawner (center space of the board). You’re ready to start playing.
How to play?
Roll 3 dice. Select 1 of your unused dice and dash with one of your figures. To dash with a figure, move it in a straight line a number of spaces equal to the number on the selected die. While dashing, figure will bounce off the walls and push other figures. During your turn, you may use one die per figure. Alternatively, instead of dashing with your figures, if one of your figures is carrying the disk, it may throw the disk. Goals are scored when the disk passes through the scoring gate. That’s about it, while it’s recommended that at least one player reads through the rulebook, everything else can be looked up during your first few games.
Different ways to play
The simplest way to start playing is to go with the Basic rules. They ignore special abilities and let the base mechanics of the game shine. We strongly suggest playing the game using Basic rules at least once. Intermediate way to play the game is by using the Advanced rules. Advanced rules add special abilities to figures and teams. They push the power level of the game, so matches become shorter and more skill intensive. Finally, you can add Boosters. Boosters are one use special abilities that you pick up in the Arena. You can call them power ups, if you insist. Adding Boosters pushes the complexity of the game to the max and adds a timer to the number of Disk Spawns during a match. Finally, you can draft, with or without Boosters. It allows you to create insanely powerful teams with all kinds of broken interactions, by design, of course!
